Education is evolving, and it takes a collaborative effort to ensure students are prepared for the challenges and opportunities ahead. The NC Data Science Education Summit brings together educators, industry leaders and nonprofit organizations to shape the landscape of data education in North Carolina.

About the Summit

Launched in 2023, the annual NC Data Science Education Summit is organized by NC State’s Data Science and AI Academy, in partnership with Data Science 4 Everyone, The Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, The Science House and the NC School of Science and Mathematics. Our mission is to promote early integration of data science education and its practical applications in everyday life.  

Why Attend?

  • Prepare for the Future: North Carolina anticipates a significant surge in computer and mathematical jobs by 2026. This summit equips educators with the tools and knowledge to prepare students for these opportunities.
  • Discover Innovative Lesson Plans: Discover innovative ways educators are using data to deepen learning, engage students, and connect classroom content to the real world. Explore lessons, activities, and approaches that can be adapted across grade levels and all content areas—from mathematics and science to social studies, English language arts, career and technical education, and beyond. You’ll find inspiration and ideas to take back to your own classroom.

  • Contribute to a Leading Initiative: Be part of North Carolina’s effort to lead in data science education. With the launch of the North Carolina Data Science + AI Education Network, we are setting the standard for data-empowered education.
  • Support to make attendance possible: Schools can receive substitute reimbursement, and NC teachers traveling more than 50 miles are eligible for hotel accommodations.
