Project Description
Artificial intelligence promises to revolutionize teaching and learning, but many educators struggle to translate that abstract promise into concrete application in their classrooms. Even if they are comfortable with the technology itself, they may not be prepared to integrate AI into their core pedagogical work, especially where misunderstandings about copyright, attribution, and related information law limit effective exploration. Educators need high-quality, practical resources to understand the risks and benefits of AI tools and clear models for incorporating AI into their day-to-day teaching.
We will develop an open-access curriculum focusing on AI skills as applied in specific educational contexts. Building on a Google-funded Responsible AI project which brought together 15 institutions in building innovative courses connecting humanities methodologies to computer science curricula, our curriculum will provide educators with clear guidance and reliable training materials as they work to understand legal and policy issues in AI so they can critically engage with (or, as appropriate, reject) AI as a pedagogical tool.
