Bio
Dr. Jeanne McClure is a postdoctoral scholar in learning science at North Carolina State University’s Data Science Academy, where she bridges learning theory with AI in education. As a former PreK-12 STEAM educator and senior research scientist for NSF’s LASER Institute, she specializes in learning analytics, AI-driven educational research, and inclusive data science pathways. Her work includes developing MLLM-based chatbots to assess data science competencies and pioneering the use of LLMs for automated qualitative coding in educational research. Dr. McClure’s award-winning research focuses on optimizing NLP/ML pipelines with BERT and LLMs to detect real-time cognitive engagement, applying equity-minded data analysis to improve PreK-12 and university education outcomes. A strong advocate for women in technology, she leads initiatives through R-Ladies Global (RTP Chapter) and other organizations. She holds a PhD in Learning, Design, and Technology, a graduate certificate in Learning.
