Data Science Consulting

The Data Science Academy provides collaborative data science support to researchers and students at NC State. Working in coordination with the NC State University Libraries, graduate RAs with expertise in programming, data manipulation and cleaning, statistical and quantitative analyses, and data communication are available to consult on a broad range of projects on campus.

About Data Science Consulting

The DSA’s Consulting Research Assistants focus on the full data science lifecycle, providing research enablement for intermediate to advanced projects.

Graduate student consultants bring their subject-matter expertise and work in teams, offering clients support in a wide variety of data science applications and techniques.

They can provide advice, guidance, and even write code and analyze data with you as part of a clearly scoped project. Our consultants have expertise in R, Stata, Matlab, Python, Excel, and other programs, and represent a variety of disciplines from the College of Sciences, College of Engineering, and College of Humanities and Social Sciences. We collaborate closely with the NC State Libraries’ Data and Visualization Services. Together, we are supporting two joint Research Assistant positions with the Libraries.

The data lifecycle

If you have in-depth data science needs that are likely to last more than a few weeks, hiring a Research Assistant may be the best option. While Libraries and DSA consultants are not available for semester-length (or longer projects), we are happy to facilitate hiring Research Assistants.

Additional data science help is available through the NC State Libraries.
