Chanel Carrell is a strategic leader at NC State, spearheading large-scale data science and AI programs that benefit students, faculty, and staff across the university’s colleges and the broader Wolfpack community.
Carrell provides key oversight to ensure the success of Data Science and AI Academy programs. This involves an interdisciplinary team of collaborators who create, design, and execute high-impact events and student-focused projects, alongside developing cross-campus partnerships. These efforts are all aimed at advancing data science education, fostering workforce development, and boosting industry engagement. Carrell’s oversight extends to a portfolio of projects, managed through their full lifecycle—from strategic planning and coordination to performance monitoring, stakeholder management, resource allocation, and risk management. This approach ensures every initiative aligns with the academy’s mission and delivers meaningful outcomes.
Beyond program oversight, Carrell actively builds lasting connections among students, staff, faculty, and industry partners. This creates long-term opportunities for collaboration, upskilling, and real-world application of data science. Carrell also serves as a career advisor and readiness counselor for students, facilitating bi-monthly events that connect students with various industries.
