Consortium for Longitudinal behavioral and Social Science data Integration and Coordination (CLASSIC)

The ultimate goal of the Consortium for Longitudinal behavioral and Social Science data Integration and Coordination (CLASSIC) research development network and publicly available Open, Deep, Rich and Withinperson Resource (OpenDRaWeR) meta-data catalog is to provide a novel resource that will allow for more rigorous tests of aging theories and their boundary conditions, which will improve understanding of aging and health.

Creating Data Science Learning Pathways Through Project-Based Learning

To address the rapid growth of data science practice, NC State’s Data Science and AI Academy has developed and piloted the ADAPT model, an instructional approach using project-based learning tailored to students’ career interests. Through design-based research, the project will refine ADAPT and create accessible resources to support its broad adoption within and beyond NC State, with plans for future partnerships to expand its impact.

Models in Data Science Consulting in Higher Education: Disseminating Current Practices and Knowledge

This project will create a practical manual for data science consulting at universities and a white paper on its collaborative creation. Grant funding will support sharing these resources through conference presentations. Ultimately, this project aims to establish a stronger scholarly conversation around data science consulting and broaden data science engagement across higher education, with plans to publish the work as an open-access monograph.

Responsible AI and Information Policy for Educators

AI’s educational promise is hindered by educators’ need for practical application guidance, especially regarding legal issues. We will develop a free curriculum, building on a prior Google-funded project, to provide clear AI integration strategies and legal understanding, empowering informed adoption (or rejection) in teaching.

Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute Electronic Health Records Data Support

The NC State Data Science and AI Academy (DSA) will leverage this funding to expand its interdisciplinary consulting services with graduate research assistants, specifically targeting data and statistical inquiries within the NC TraCS program that don’t require method development. This initiative aims to support clinical research, train NC State graduate students and create a replicable support model.

Models for Sustainable and Inclusive Data Science Consulting and Collaboration in Higher Education  

NC State’s interdisciplinary data science consulting service, a collaboration between the Libraries, the Data Science and AI Academy and the Department of Statistics, uses diverse staffing to support the entire campus. To address a lack of research on this topic, NC State partnered with ADSA to convene experts and explore effective consulting models.
