SUMMARY:Seed Grant Applications
DESCRIPTION:NC State’s Data Science Academy (DSA) is pleased to announce its 2023 Seed Grant program. This program\, developed in collaboration with the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI)\, aims to increase interdisciplinary data science research at NC State by building and strengthening interdisciplinary networks among NC State researchers with shared interests in data science.  \nThe DSA anticipates making 5 – 10 awards of $20\,000 – $50\,000 each. Funds can support a range of activities that support interdisciplinary data science research\, including but not limited to:  \n\nHiring a common graduate or undergraduate student\nResearch-focused workshops or seminar series\nProposal ideation workshops\nTravel in support of research or proposal writing\nSpeaker honoraria and travel expenses \n\nSuccessful proposals will demonstrate how the project aims to advance data science research\, builds interdisciplinarity\, and promotes accessibility\, diversity\, equity and inclusion.  \nThe Seed Grant application window will open on February 13\, 2023. Proposals must be submitted as one PDF document via InfoReady Review by March 13\, 2023. DESCRIPTION:About\nThe American Statistical Association (ASA) DataFest™ is a celebration of data in which undergraduate student teams work for a three-day weekend to find and share meaning in a large\, rich\, and complex dataset. The Data Science Academy began hosting ASA DataFest™ at NC State in 2022 in collaboration with the Department of Statistics. \nStudents compete in teams of 3 to 5. You may form your own team prior to the event\, or you may ask to be placed on a team. We encourage you to create teams of individuals from different disciplines because you will benefit from having team members of diverse backgrounds and skills. Final projects are limited to 3 slides\, so make your content count. \nSchedule\n\nFriday\, March 31\, 5:30-10:00pm\nSaturday\, April 1\, 9:00 am-10:00pm\nSunday\, April 2\, 9:00am-3:00pm\n\nRegistration\nEach individual participating in DataFest at NC State must submit a registration. If you form your own team\, you may include each member of your team\, including the team name on the form. If you have not formed a team\, you will have the chance on the registration form to request placement on a team. Registration is limited to the first 50 people!
